New Centre of Łódź and Kobro Square
The New Centre of Łódź is a pioneer operation on a living city, both in respect of matter and idea. The concept of spatial development for this area was prepared by a Luxemburg urban planner, Rob Krier, in 2007. The starting point for the entire project is the idea to create a high speed railway line under a city. At the same time, the New Center of Łódź will be a place which will define the character of Łódź as a city of culture and art for a long time.

Oficjalna strona internetowa i ramowy harmonogram prac – to najnowsze wiadomości w kwestii dworca Łódź Fabryczna. Jeżeli wykonawca wywiąże się z terminów, za nieco ponad trzy lata dworzec będzie czekał na pierwszych pasażerów.
A meeting was held at the Office of the Marshal, assembling the representatives of the parties interested in the joint construction of the conventional (long-distance and agglomeration) railway tunnel under Łódź – President of Łódź Hanna Zdanowska, Łódź voivodeship Marshal Witold Stępień and PKP PLK SA (Polish Railways) trustee Zbigniew Szafrański. They were accompanied by the former minister of infrastructure, Cezary Grabarczyk.
Despite the opinions of experts, who state that this year will be largely influenced by the crisis, the citizens of Łódź can cross their fingers in hope that the city is now leaving a 20-year crisis period. 2012 should be a record-breaking year in terms of the investment plans in Łódź. We will still have to wait more than a year for the completion of some of them, but there are many reasons to believe that their launch will provide Łódź with a new driving force.
19 December – a symbolic date for the Łódź Fabryczna station. This was the day when the characteristic neon sign “Łódź Fabryczna”, which had been welcoming passengers since 1974, was taken down from the roof over the platforms of the old station on the side of Kilińskiego street. The sign, which has faded in recent years and showed only the letters “ód” “czna” at the time of dismantling, will undergo repairs and maintenance. It is possible that it will return to the new site after the opening of the underground station.
It took nearly a week for the Magistrate to react to the information about postponing HRS development until 2030. Despite the initial claims that Łódź will now focus on the construction of a new station, today we heard the announcement of a harsh opposition to the plans made by the Ministry of Transport. Petitions to minister Sławomir Nowak are also appearing throughout the internet.
